All-you-can-eat buffets may seem enticing but in Taiwan, they come by the dozen. After some experience, we learn to control our portions but no matter how disciplined we are, we tend to, more often than not, overeat.
Well! Introducing a vegetarian buffet that gives you all the pleasures of the five senses with half the calories; where you are allowed to indulge your taste buds without the guilt. It will probably be the only all-you-can-eat buffet I will ever step foot in again.
The particular branch we visited was in the Taoyuan Tong Ling Shopping Mall and features a salad bar with a variety of entrées and starters. To the right of the entrance, you have the Asian cuisine area with a selection of steaming Chinese dishes and even a make-your-own-hotpot bar. As you move along you will find your steamed buns, soups and what have you stacked neatly in mini bamboo steamers.
To the left of the entrance, near the back of the vast restaurant, is your Western cuisine. Highlights of this section were probably the fresh-out-of-the-oven pizzas and the freshly cooked pastas.
Lastly, it goes without saying that the dessert corner offers a selection of healthy sweet treats. The presentation is visually enticing with all its colours of the rainbow on display from green matcha cakes to pink madeleines.
To conclude, as a meat eater who isn’t the biggest fan of vegetarian/vegan restaurants, it has to be said: this all-you-can buffet is definitely worth a visit.
